This year I was invited to give a talk to the future leaders of the ad industry as part of the IPA Excellence Diploma.
It was supposed to be on ‘futures’ and exciting new things, but recently I’d been thinking about the increasingly pervasive problem of cynicism in the industry, which I’ve been seeing more and more of - a toxic mindset and worrying barrier to being able to embrace new ideas, explore new technologies and build towards a dynamic future.
And so I decided to turn my talk into a rallying cry against it, to try to inspire a new generation of leaders to model better behaviours, more open minds and to encourage more experimentation.
