I really enjoyed this, thankyou for writing. I'd add in that we need to change how we wokr, as well as the type of work we do / the outcomes we work toward. I've seen brands set themselves up as being 'for the future' but the day to day working practices - meetings, 9-5, email, admin, etc continue, and so the outcomes never really live up to the promise. I'd love to see Type2 Growth kick off wholesale evolution :-)

I’m blown away by your thinking Zoe (and so brilliantly articulated and presented). I’ve never quite been able to put my finger on why Byron Sharp’s approach made sense on a logical level but just felt wrong on some more human level. ‘It’s like breaking poetry down into a collection of individual words and losing sight of the emotion and meaning they create when put together.’ Yes!

I’ve built my business on helping organisations and teams think deeply about what value they are trying to create, why that matters to them, and how they do it, so I am going to be noodling your thinking for a good long time and introducing it to my clients and network. Excited to see how the conversation unfolds.

Thank you.

Hi Zoe, idk if you remember but we once briefly worked together at The Upside! I stumbled across this deck and just want to say that I think it's incredible - so powerful and provocative. Every CEO should be reading this - I just put it in front of mine, and I'll leave it to you to get it in front of the rest of them :)

This is one of the most superb pieces of inspiring work I have ever come across. There are so many quotes and paragraphs that would generate individual conversations we need to spread this far and wide and then start building on it. Thank you.

I just got to the first impression and need to get back to the real reading of this later. But your Canva-style / presentation is awesome. You had me at 'hello' :) !!

Also I'm thinking if you've read Shoshana Zuboff around 2010? .. but maybe your references to her come later. I will keep reading, but if she doesn't show up I will share some reads from her (before her 'surveillance capitalism' book. Thank I think greatly adds to your perspective as I understand it so far.

Just needed to start there. What an excellent way to present your thinking :)

I really enjoyed this - I'd love to see a call to action. How can we help, what's the next step for us. I love it but don't know where to start.

Initial call to action is on slide 79. Other than that, please feel free to share ideas!

Got it - Substack doesn't make it easy to know there are slides.

I read the part on brand gravity and would love to understand what it means. I was hoping for something actionable and understandable that moves us toward the vision you paint.

I believe the aspiration for a better path is powerful, but true transformation doesn’t simply emerge from appealing ideas or interconnected systems. In my view, growth isn’t about accumulating more; it’s about energizing what’s essential: people and their conscious choices. Meaningful change, in my opinion, is built on authenticity and depth, embracing the dynamic as a continuous flow where value resides in human decisions, not in structures. A better way isn’t imposed; it’s created—together, with purpose and genuine action.

Let’s continue building and exchanging ideas to shape this path. Always open to your thoughts and perspectives!

I completely agree that transformation requires authenticity, depth, and shared action. But I’d add that unless we actively set the conditions for this kind of change—which is exactly what my piece is all about—it’s unlikely to arise from serendipity, especially within a failing capitalist structure.

While human decisions and conscious choices are critical, they need systems that support and amplify them, not ones that perpetuate extraction or disconnection. It’s about intentionally designing environments where collaboration, connection, and meaningful value can thrive.

I have been preaching much of this for years. Thank you for visually compiling this in a new and compelling format. We need more voices and perspectives like yours to tell this broader story of how we are failing ourselves with the old measures and perspectives.
